February 28. Last day of the 2nd month of the year. Also last day of the love month. And this 2010, in the land of the yellow race its holiday... yahoooooo. On what ocassion? Well, for chinese people it is the 15th day of the first lunar month of the Chinese calendar. On this day, they celebrate the Lantern Festival aka Yuan-Xiao. It is also marked that Chinese New Year ends. Based on what i heard & red, on this 15th day of the first lunar month , it is the birthday of what they called the Heaven Officer who blesses human luck while on the 15th day of the 7th month (which is August on the Roman Calendar) is the birthday of the Hell Officer who has the right to pardon ghosts.

Lantern Festival, ito yung celebration na kung saan nagpapalipad ang mga chinese (minsan kahit hindi chinese) especially dito sa Taiwan ng lantern na made in paper na naglalaman ng kanilang wishes & prayers na kilala din sa tawag na Sky Lantern Festival. Kase sabi ng mga matatandang bulaan dito na, this lanterns will reached heaven wherein the God recieved their wishes and will give them blessing.

At eto ang kakaiba sa mga intsik beho na to ito, dito rin daw sa araw na ito sineselebreyt ang tinatawag na SON-In-Law Day (meganun!). Actually sineselebreyt ito tuwing second day of the year. Itong selebrasyon na ito naman ay para sa mga newlyweds. Kung paano? Heto. Sa araw na ito kailangan ihatid ng groom ang bride sa bahay nila, siyempre special guest si groom ng kanyang mother-in-law (kase kailangan tabihan ni groom si mother-in-law sa pagtulog...hehehe), joke siyempre yun. Kailangan may dala ang newlyweds ng mga gifts or suhol sa magulang ng babae, in reward bibigyan naman sila ng surprise package na two lotus lanterns (kung anuman ang itsura ng lotus lanterns ay di ko alam, isearch mo na lang pag may time ka.) Usually dalawa yun (kaya nga two eh, tanga) at kulay pula at puti (kontrapelo na...sa pulaahhhh, sa putihhhh, sinu angggg magwawagi...sa eat bulaga yan kung hundi mo alam.) na isasabit ng mag-asawa sa kanilang bahay. At sa araw ng Lantern Festival itatabi at isasabit ng bagong mag-asawa ang parol sa kanila bed (kung paano nila isabit!, hindi ko alam, kase hindi ako chinese) at lalagyan ng kandila at hihintaying masunog ang parol. At magpupustahan ang dalawa kung alin ang unang mauubos ng apoy (joke). Ayon sa mahiwagang libro ni Tata Temyong ng Panday kapag unang natupok ng apoy ay ang pula, babae ang magiging first born nila at lalaki naman kapag puti ang nauna.
